OSTEOMYOLOGY
Click on the following link to find out more about osteomyology

This type of damage is sustained when a joint is moved beyond the normal range of movement, or with such repetition as to exceed the normal loading of the muscle. It typically involves tendon or ligament damage although the belly of the muscle can also be affected.

It is not normally appreciated how complicated a movement actually is. You have not only the prime mover muscle but also other muscles that are simultaneously fixing parts of the body (to ensure only the required joint moves in the required way) and still more ensuring the movement is speed controlled as well as not reaching beyond the desired point.

The result of this multi-layered musculature is that there are more components that can be damaged if things go wrong, and this complicates diagnosing precisely which muscle/tendon/ligament is compromised.

Sport InjuriesIt is not restricted to players of sports. You are more likely to twist an ankle tripping on the pavement than climbing a mountain, because you don't expect an uneven surface on the path, and the mountaineer is probably fitter.

Having said that, the most common causes of Sports injuries (in sports) are typically;

  • Insufficient warm up/cool down stretches and exercises before exertion.
  • Old or unsuitable equipment such as 5 year old trainers.
  • Thinking that, after a long lay, off you can still win the Olympics (even if it is at twister).
  • Knowing you can beat your teenage great grandson at full contact sports like rugby.
  • Getting too psyched up before playing your great grandmother at no-holds-barred knitting.

For precise pin-pointed treatment at either superficial or deep muscle level, a dual frequency ultrasound unit is utilised whenever the damaged region is beyond the reach of the "hands on" approach.

Typical testimonial

C. L. - fitness gym owner
I realised a real need within my gym for a suitably trained and capable health professional, one who could keep my members active so that they could train consistently and attend regularly. David was not only effective, but understood the needs of all, irrespective of their level of training. I travel to see David whenever the need arises, despite living in North London - a round trip of 80 miles.
